High school football: No. 1 Mater Dei, No. 2 Bishop Gorman feature 57 players with at least one FBS offer

Set to meet Friday, Monarchs and Gaels combine for 38 players rated as a three-star recruit or higher.

There will be an abundance of talent on the field Friday when No. 1 Mater Dei (Santa Ana, Calif.) hosts No. 2 Bishop Gorman (Las Vegas) in the biggest high school football game of the 2024 season. This will be the 14th meeting between the top two teams in the rankings since 2000.

The matchup will feature 38 players rated as a three-star recruit or higher according to 247Sports and 57 that have landed at least one FBS offer.

Included in those numbers are a pair of five-star prospects in Chris Henry Jr. of Mater Dei and Derek Meadows of Bishop Gorman.

Mark Bowman, Daryus Dixson, Kodi Greene, Shaun Scott and Nasir Wyatt headline the 10 four-star recruits for top-ranked Mater Dei.

S.J. Alofaituli, James Carrington, Alai Kalaniuvalu, Hayden Stepp, Douglas Utu and Jett Washington are the six four-stars for Gorman, last year's MaxPreps National Champions.

Dash Beierly, C.J. Lavender, Abduall Sanders and Sione Tohi are among seven three-star recruits for Mater Dei.

Brandon Gaea, K.J. Hallums, Landon McComber, Melvin Spicer IV, Kaina Watson and Prince Williams headline the 13 three-stars for Bishop Gorman.

Ace Amina, Tamatoa Gaoteote, Terrance Grant, Danny Lang II, Ace Leutele, Lex Mailangi, Isaiah Nickels and Tayaun Lawrence are some of the notable 19 players that are not ranked but have at least one FBS offer.
