On Tuesday, the Lafayette Jefferson Bronchos were fully in charge, breezing past the Kankakee Valley Kougars 63-23. The Bronchos have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five  contests by 21  points or more this season.
 Maya Layton was  her usual excellent self,  almost  dropping  a double-double on 30 points and nine  steals. The team also got some help courtesy of  Amani Byrd, who  posted six  points and three  steals.
 Lafayette Jefferson  smashed the offensive glass and  finished the game with 21  offensive boards. That's the most  offensive rebounds they've posted  since  the start of last season.
 Several Kougars players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was   Jenna Walker, who  had six points and nine  rebounds.
Lafayette Jefferson's record is now 11-4. As for Kankakee Valley, they have  traveled a rocky road recently having  lost three of their last four games,  which put a noticeable dent in their 5-10 record  this season.
 Lafayette Jefferson will square off against Muncie Central at 6:30  p.m.  on Friday. As for Kankakee Valley, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next  match,  a  48-47  loss against North Judson-San Pierre on the 9th.
