Porter Ridge lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Ziggy Harris, who scored ten points along with nine rebounds and five steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Harris has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Daniel Osei, who scored 12 points along with two steals.
Leading Sun Valley to victory were Devin Sumpter and Nathan Tavares. Sumpter scored 23 points along with seven rebounds, while Tavares scored 21 points along with seven assists and five rebounds. Tavares has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last three times he's played. Will Calhoun was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with nine rebounds.
Porter Ridge has been struggling recently, as they've lost four of their last five matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-13 record this season. As for Sun Valley, their victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 6-13.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Porter Ridge will take on Marvin Ridge at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Marvin Ridge presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Porter Ridge in North Carolina (Marvin Ridge is ranked 93rd, while Porter Ridge is ranked 288th). As for Sun Valley, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Cuthbertson at 7:30 p.m. Cuthbertson is no doubt hoping to put an end to a six-game streak of away losses.
