After flying high against the Seton Catholic Central Knights last Thursday, the Peru Nighthawks came back down to earth. The match between Peru and Brushton-Moira wasn't particularly close, with Peru falling 48-32. Peru was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Brushton-Moira apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in December of 2022.
Peru's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Lucas Allen, who scored nine points. Another player making a difference was Zack Engstom, who scored eight points.
Peru bumped their record down to 1-5 with that loss, which was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season. As for Brushton-Moira, they now have a winning record of 5-4.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Peru will take on Saranac at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Brushton-Moira will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Tupper Lake at 7:15 p.m. on January 26th.
