Basketball Recap: South Putnam Beats Greencastle for Their Third Straight Win

South Putnam had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 18 points) and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Greencastle Tiger Cubs, sneaking past 57-54. The score was all tied up 26-26 at the break, but the Eagles were the better team in the second half.

Several Tiger Cubs players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Sarah Simmerman, who went 6 of 10 en route to 13 points along with seven rebounds and six assists. The dominant performance gave Simmerman a new career-high in assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaylee Ames, who went 6 of 7 on her way to 14 points.

South Putnam is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 8-5 record this season. As for Greencastle, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-8.

South Putnam will venture away from home to take on West Vigo at 6:00 p.m. on December 20th. South Putnam is facing West Vigo at the right time seeing as West Vigo is stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Greencastle, they will host Sullivan at 6:00 p.m. on December 20th.
