The R-S Central Hilltoppers will head out on the road to challenge the Patton Panthers at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Patton took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on R-S Central, who comes in off a win.
R-S Central scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. They came out on top against Polk County by a score of 63-56. The win was all the more spectacular given R-S Central's disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 474th, while the Wolverines are ranked 235th).
R-S Central found their leader in underclassman A'laila Flack, who scored 32 points. That makes it nine consecutive games in which Flack has scored at least a third of R-S Central's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Nykeria Petty, who scored 11 points.
Meanwhile, it's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 64-12, which was the final score in Patton's tilt against the Wolverines last Friday. Patton has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
R-S Central has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a massive bump to their 8-13 record this season. As for Patton, they have been struggling recently as they've lost 13 of their last 14 matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-17 record this season.
Everything came up roses for R-S Central against the Panthers in their previous meeting back in January as the squad secured a 49-8 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for R-S Central since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
