Basketball Recap: Hebbronville Takes Loss Despite Strong Performances from Robert Gonzalez and Jacob Gomez

If Hebbronville was feeling good fresh off their 61-40 takedown of Premont last Saturday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Hebbronville Longhorns fell just short of the Orange Grove Bulldogs by a score of 29-27 on Monday.

Hebbronville's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Jacob Gomez, who posted six points and five rebounds, and Robert Gonzalez, who had six points in addition to eight boards and four steals. What's more, Gomez also racked up two blocks, the most he's had since back in November of 2024.

Hebbronville's defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 8-11. As for Orange Grove, the win made it two in a row for them and also bumps their season record up to 8-11.

Hebbronville will square off against Santa Gertrudis Academy at 1:30 p.m. on Friday. Hebbronville is facing Santa Gertrudis Academy at the right time seeing as Santa Gertrudis Academy is stuck on an 11-game losing streak. As for Orange Grove, they will challenge Banquete at 12:30 p.m. on Friday. Orange Grove will also cruise into their next match with the timing on their side: Banquete will have lost three straight heading into Friday's contest.
