Gardner Minshew and Jesse Jackson provided fans with a highlight when they connected against Meridian. The longest such play in 6A Region 3 this season, the connection resulted in 70 yards.
Adding to the longest winning streak in the league this week, Oak Grove beat Terry 43-7. The victory was the eighth in a row for the team.
Kirk McCarty threw for 204 yards and 4 touchdowns. He was 13-26 with 0 interceptions.
McCarty put up the best numbers in passing as Oak Grove bested the Bulldogs. McCarty's favorite target this week was Cameron Myers, who caught 3 passes for 84 yards.
Nevill Barr's team's McCarty and Jordan Mitchell have formed a dream team this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. 6-0 quarterback McCarty has thrown for 2,341 yards this season, while Mitchell has 33 catches for 628 yards. Terry's Robert Johnson leads the league in rushing yards with 1,019.
The most important game in 6A Region 3 this week will be the match up between Brandon and the Warriors. The Bulldogs enters the contest ranked fourth in the state, while Oak Grove ranks first.
Tyus Raine of the Petal is only 67 yards short of surpassing 1,000 rushing yards for the season. In 117 carries Raine has accumulated 933 yard this year.
The top two defenses in the league will face off this season when Brandon takes on the Warriors. Brad Peterson's team has allowed 92 points this season, while Oak Grove has given up 109. The Bulldogs allowed 14 points last week as they beat Meridian.
Todd McDaniel's team fell to the Warriors 43-7 last week, the largest margin of any game.
