Bethel is 0-10 against Miami East since April of 2019 but things could change on Tuesday. The Bees will host the Vikings at 5:00 p.m. Bethel has given up an average of 9.2 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Bethel came into their game two weeks ago off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They lost 14-2 to Covington.
Allie Sheen was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-3 with one home run. Another player making a difference was Annabelle Adams, who went 1-for-2 with one home run.
Meanwhile, Miami East had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 6.3 runs) and they went ahead and made it five on Monday. Everything went their way against the Eagles as they made off with a 19-1 victory. The result was nothing new for the Vikings, who have now won 12 matches by six runs or more so far this season.
Kylie Gentis and Jacqueline Kadel were major factors while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Gentis pitched two innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. Meanwhile, Kadel struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 19 consecutive appearances. At bat, Gentis went 2-for-4 with three RBI and two runs, while Kadel went a perfect 3-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
In other batting news, Whitni Enis was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two stolen bases, and three runs. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jersey Cutlip, who went 1-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.
Miami East was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .405. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Troy Christian only posted a batting average of .062.
Bethel's defeat dropped their record down to 6-9. As for Miami East, their win bumped their record up to 17-3.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Tuesday. Bethel hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.5 home runs per game. However, it's not like Miami East struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 0.4 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Bethel might still be hurting after the 11-1 loss they got from Miami East in their previous matchup back in April. Will the Bees have more luck at home instead of on the road? Come back here after the game to get an analysis of the match and other softball content.
