Southport dropped down to 16-7 on Thursday, ending the team's three-game streak of wins. They came up short against the Terre Haute North Vigo Patriots, falling 22-2. If the Cardinals were looking for revenge after losing 13-1 to the Patriots when the teams met back in May of 2025, then they'll just have to keep looking.
Ally Kiefner made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and got on base in all three of her plate appearances with one triple, one stolen base, and one RBI.
As for Terre Haute North Vigo, the victory was the 20th in a row for them, bringing their record up to 24-1. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.2 runs over those games.
On Terre Haute North Vigo's side, Kyleigh Walker and Jaleigh Lindley made a big impact no matter where they played. Throwing, Walker tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Lindley struck out six batters over four innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in 12 consecutive appearances. At the plate, Walker went 3-for-5 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI, while Lindley went 2-for-4 with three RBI and one run. That's the most RBI Lindley has posted since back in April.
In other batting news, Terre Haute North Vigo got a massive performance out of Kyanna Gardner, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with four runs, three RBI, and one double. That's the most runs Gardner has posted since back in April of 2025. Madi Strange was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs.
Southport and Terre Haute North Vigo are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. The Cardinals will take on Center Grove at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Terre Haute North Vigo, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Mooresville at 6:00 p.m.
