Last Tuesday, A.L. Brown came up short against West Cabarrus and fell 50-41. A.L. Brown has struggled against West Cabarrus recently, as their match on Tuesday was their ninth consecutive lost matchup.
A.L. Brown's defeat came about despite a quality game from Sadie Faulkner, who scored 20 points. Ayanni Flood was another key contributor, scoring ten points.
South Iredell lost a heartbreaker when they last took the court, but unfortunately for them the loss they were handed on on Friday was a bit more commanding. They were outmatched by Hickory Ridge on the road and fell 71-39. While losing is never fun, South Iredell can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 277th, while Hickory Ridge is ranked 38th).
Kayden Johnson put forth a good effort for the losing side as she scored 11 points.
A.L. Brown has not been sharp recently as the team's lost eight of their last nine contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 10-12 record this season. As for South Iredell, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-14.
Friday's matchup is shaping up to be a scrappy match: A.L. Brown haven't given up the ball easily this season, having only averaged 3.9 turnovers per game. It's a different story for South Iredell, though, as they've been averaging 26.4 turnovers per game. Given A.L. Brown's sizable advantage in that area, South Iredell will need to find a way to close that gap.
