Softball Recap: Viewmont Beats Woods Cross for Their Third Straight Win

Viewmont waltzed into their matchup on Tuesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They put the hurt on the Woods Cross Wildcats with a sharp 11-0 victory. The Vikings might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven contests by seven runs or more this season.

London Dickerson was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out ten over five innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Ricki Smith was incredible, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and one stolen base. Karli Dickerson was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one double.

Viewmont kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They are 6-2 when they post 11 or more hits.

Viewmont pushed their record up to 9-10 with the win, which was their third straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.3 runs over those games. As for Woods Cross, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-12 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Viewmont will host Roy at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Vikings are facing the Royals at the right time seeing as the Royals are stuck on a 17-game losing streak. As for Woods Cross, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Olympus at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
