The Lakeland Hornets will head out on the road to face off against the Pleasantville Panthers at 6:10 p.m. on Friday. Both teams are coming into the match red-hot, with Lakeland sitting on three straight wins and Pleasantville on eight.
Last Friday, Lakeland didn't have too much trouble with Pearl River on the road as they won 35-21.
Lakeland's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Grady Leonard, who threw for 185 yards and three touchdowns, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground. Lakeland also got help from Kyle Gallagher who showed off his sure hands for 127 receiving yards.
Meanwhile, Pleasantville stacked a fifth blowout onto their ever-increasing hoard on Friday. They claimed a resounding 38-6 victory over Putnam Valley at home. The matchup was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 38-0.
It was another big night for Daniel Picart, who picked up 78 receiving yards and two touchdowns, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground. Aiden Picart was another key contributor, throwing for 147 yards and two touchdowns on only 11 passes.
Lakeland's win bumped their record up to 6-3. As for Pleasantville, their victory was their tenth straight at home (dating back to last season), bumping their overall record up to 8-0.
Lakeland ended up a good deal behind Pleasantville when the teams last played back in September, losing 31-16. Can Lakeland avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
