The Timpanogos Timberwolves will challenge the Orem Tigers at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams are coming into the game red-hot, with Timpanogos sitting on seven straight victories and Orem on three.
Timpanogos is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Utah's top teams: Payson, who was ranked 11th at the time (Timpanogos was ranked 15th). Timpanogos skirted past Payson 9-7.
The team relied heavily on Kelci Gingras, who scored a run while going 3-for-4. Kale'a Nakayama was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-5.
Gingras wasn't the only one working in the hit department: Timpanogos kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in seven consecutive matches.
The home team had won the previous three meetings between Orem and Timpview, and Orem kept the tradition alive. Orem was the clear victor by a 19-4 margin over Timpview on Monday. The Tigers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six contests by nine runs or more this season.
Kailey Pay made a splash while hitting and pitching. She tossed four innings while giving up four earned runs off five hits. What's more, she posted five strikeouts, the most she's had since back in March of 2024. She was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with one double and one RBI.
In other batting news, Hannah Maylett was incredible, scoring four runs and stealing a base while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. What's more, she posted two home runs, the most she's had since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was Andlie Allen, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and one double.
Orem's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-6. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Timpanogos, their win bumped their record up to 8-2.
Tuesday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Timpanogos hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .435. However, it's not like Orem struggles in that department as they've averaged .364. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Everything went Timpanogos' way against Orem when the teams last played back in April of 2024, as Timpanogos made off with a 12-5 victory. Does Timpanogos have another victory up their sleeve, or will Orem turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
