Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Elgin/Pope John). They put the hurt on the Creighton Bulldogs with a sharp 64-38 win on Monday. The Wolfpack have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five matchups by 26 points or more this season.

Leading Elgin/Pope John to victory were Kate Furstenau and Madelyn Kurpgeweit. Furstenau posted 19 points, while Kurpgeweit earned 18 points. Those 18 points gave Kurpgeweit a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Braelyn Martinsen, who put up 11 points.

The victory (which was Elgin/Pope John's fourth in a row) raised their record to 9-1. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 27.2 points. As for Creighton, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-7.

Elgin/Pope John will look to defend their home court on Friday against North Central at 6:15 p.m. As for Creighton, they will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Chambers/Wheeler Central at 6:00 p.m. on January 9, 2025.
