Softball Recap: Loyalton's Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Monday

Loyalton dropped their record down to 10-12 on Monday, which also ended the team's six-game streak of wins. They fell just short of the Portola Tigers by a score of 16-15. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Friday (13), the Grizzlies still had to take the loss.

As for Portola, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 15-8-1. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 19.0 runs over those games.

For Portola's part, Annie Tate was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. That's the most hits Tate has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Ainsleigh Pruitt, who went 3-for-5 with four stolen bases, three runs, and one triple.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Loyalton will take on Truckee at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Wolverines have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 14.04 runs per game on average), something the Grizzlies will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Portola, they will face off against Biggs at 1:00 p.m. on Friday. The Tigers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Wolverines have averaged an impressive 11 runs per game this season.
