Garber is 0-10 against Frankenmuth since October of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Garber Dukes will head out on the road to face off against the Frankenmuth Eagles at 7:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Garber fell on hard times earlier this season, but after back-to-back wins it seems like their luck might finally be changing. Everything went their way against Laingsburg on Friday as Garber made off with a 30-7 win. The score at the end of the third wound up being the final score as Garber just coasted through the last quarter.
Owen Halstead was on fire: he rushed for 103 yards on only 11 carries, and also threw for 203 yards and three touchdowns. Max Fellows also helped out with an impressive 149 receiving yards.
Meanwhile, Frankenmuth had already won seven in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 38.4 points), and they went ahead and made it eight on Friday. They didn't even let Gladwin onto the board and left with a 38-0 win. Given Frankenmuth's advantage in MaxPreps' Michigan football rankings (they are ranked 32nd, while Gladwin is ranked 98th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Garber now has a winning record of 5-4. As for Frankenmuth, their win was their eighth straight on the road, which bumped their overall record up to 8-1.
Garber was taken down by Frankenmuth 54-7 in their previous meeting back in September. Can Garber avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
