The Bellevue West Thunderbirds waltzed into their matchup Friday with eight straight wins but they left with nine. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Lincoln 87-55 at home. Bellevue West's offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
Bellevue West got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Robby Garcia out in front who scored 20 points along with five rebounds. The matchup was Garcia's tenth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Eldon Turner, who scored 12 points along with seven rebounds and five assists.
Despite the loss, Lincoln had strong showings from Creighton Bracker, who scored 17 points along with seven rebounds, and Cole Arnold, who scored 16 points. Arnold scored a full 29.1% of Lincoln's points, the sixth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Aiden Sandbothe, who scored six points.
Bellevue West's win bumped their record up to 11-1. As for Lincoln, their defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 7-2.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Bellevue West will take on Bellevue East at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. As for Lincoln, they will be playing at home against Bishop Heelan Catholic at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Bishop Heelan Catholic has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last four games.
