Softball Recap: Clayton Has No Trouble Against Southeast Raleigh

After only two runs in their last game, Clayton made sure to put some runs up on the board against Southeast Raleigh on Friday. The Comets were the clear victors by a 15-0 margin over the Bulldogs. The Comets might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven matchups by six runs or more this season.

The team relied heavily on Mira Gorman, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Jenny Clement, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.

Clayton always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .875. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Clayton's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-6. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.0 runs over those games. As for Southeast Raleigh, they are on a 12-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-16.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Clayton will host Fuquay - Varina at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Bengals will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something the Comets surely won't give up without a fight. As for Southeast Raleigh, they will welcome Willow Spring at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Bulldogs' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Storm have averaged an impressive 7.2 runs per game this season.
