Wilcox-Hildreth's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Sam Gruwell, who scored 24 points along with nine rebounds and two steals, and Micah Johnson who scored 14 points along with four steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Gruwell has scored all season.
Wilcox-Hildreth has been struggling recently, as they've lost ten of their last 11 matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-13 record this season. As for Axtell, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 10-5.
Wilcox-Hildreth will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Silver Lake at 7:30 p.m. Silver Lake presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Wilcox-Hildreth in Nebraska (Silver Lake is ranked 118th, while Wilcox-Hildreth is ranked 250th). As for Axtell, they will head out on the road to take on Hi-Line [Eustis-Farnam/Elwood] at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.
