After each having a week off, the Floyd Central Highlanders and the Castle Knights will shake off the cobwebs and hit the field against one another at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Floyd Central's favor is that they have posted at least 31 points in their last seven contests.
Floyd Central is headed into the matchup after thoroughly thrashing New Albany: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that the Highlanders blew the Bulldogs out of the water with a 42-6 final score. The Highlanders might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven games by 22 points or more this season.
Floyd Central got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Luke Jacobi out in front who picked up 57 receiving yards and two TDs, and also rushed for 32 yards and a pair of scores. Another signal caller making a difference was Jack Mull, who threw for 170 yards and three touchdowns.
Meanwhile, Castle played a tough contest last Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were beaten by Evansville Memorial 37-7. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since October 16, 2020, but that streak is no more.
Floyd Central pushed their record up to 8-1 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. The team dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 28.7 points. As for Castle, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-3.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Friday's matchup: Floyd Central has been on an offensive roll this season, having averaged 464.6 total yards per game. It's a different story for Castle, though, as they've been averaging only 217.2 total yards. Will Floyd Central be able to march up the field at their leisure again, or will the Knights flip the script?
Floyd Central ended up a good deal behind Castle in their previous meeting back in November of 2024, losing 35-21. Thankfully for the Highlanders, Max Mccool (who rushed for 208 yards and a pair of TDs while picking up 7.2 yards per carry) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? Check MaxPreps.com after the match to find out.
