The Somerset Briar Jumpers lost against the Southwestern Warriors back in February of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Somerset had to suffer through a rough 73-38 loss at the hands of the Warriors. Somerset has not had much luck with the Warriors recently, as the team's come up short the last five times they've met.
Southwestern got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Payton Acey out in front who scored 17 points along with eight rebounds and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Kinsley Molden, who scored 13 points along with five assists and three steals.
Somerset has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matchups, which is still a better percentage than their 4-15 record this season. As for Southwestern, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 15-6.
Somerset will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against the Raiders at 7:30 p.m. McCreary Central is no doubt hoping to put an end to a four-game streak of away losses. As for Southwestern, they won't have much time to rest: their next match is against the Bearcats at 5:30 p.m. on February 3rd. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Kentucky (Anderson County is ranked 14th, while the Warriors are ranked 26th).
