El Paso is 1-9 against Chapin since February of 2020 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The El Paso Tigers' road trip will continue as they head out to face the Chapin Huskies at 6:00 p.m. on February 9th. Both teams come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Tuesday, El Paso's game was all tied up 10-10 at the half, but luckily for them it didn't stay that way. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Canutillo and snuck past 38-36.
Abby Aragon and Natalia Thomas were among the main playmakers for El Paso as the former scored 14 points along with two steals and the latter scored 11 points along with seven rebounds and three blocks. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Aragon has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Emma Guevara, who scored seven points along with four steals.
Meanwhile, Chapin earned a 36-28 win over Andress on Tuesday.
Jasmine Blake and Samantha Wise were among the main playmakers for Chapin as the former scored eight points and the latter scored 12 points along with six rebounds and two steals. Wise is trending in the right direction, as she's improved her point production for three games straight.
El Paso has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 22-9 record this season. As for Chapin, their win bumped their record up to 13-18.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: El Paso have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 28.8 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Chapin struggles in that department as they've been averaging 33.3 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
El Paso strolled past Chapin when the teams last played on Friday by a score of 44-29. Does El Paso have another victory up their sleeve, or will Chapin turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
