Rosholt dropped down to 11-6 on Thursday, ending the team's four-game streak of wins. They took a 9-6 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Pacelli Cardinals. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Cardinals this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 4-3 back in April.
Nolin Betker was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
As for Pacelli, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-6 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.0 runs over those games.
On Pacelli's side, Nate Haemmerle and Sully Schober made a big impact while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Haemmerle pitched five innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off six hits. Meanwhile, Schober pitched two innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one walk in five consecutive appearances. At the plate, Haemmerle went a perfect 4-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double, while Schober went 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI. Those four hits gave Haemmerle a new career-high.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Bryce Flaker, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Eric Reincke, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs.
Looking ahead, Rosholt will head out to square off against Almond-Bancroft at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The Eagles have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 11.08 runs per game on average), something the Hornets will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Pacelli, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Fall Creek at 4:30 p.m.
