Hubbard has enjoyed a three-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will challenge the Girard Indians at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Last Tuesday, things could have been worse for Hubbard, but they could have been a whole lot better as they took a 55-40 loss to the Quakers. Hubbard has not had much luck with the Quakers recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Braydon Songer, who scored 17 points. Another player making a difference was Gavin Rybicki, who scored eight points along with five rebounds and three blocks.
Meanwhile, Girard's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their fourth straight defeat. They lost to Lakeview on the road by a decisive 73-59 margin. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Hubbard now has a losing record at 8-9. As for Girard, they dropped their record down to 1-15 with that defeat, which was their eighth straight on the road.
Hubbard didn't have too much breathing room in their game against the Indians when the teams last played back in January, but they still walked away with a 52-46 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Hubbard since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
