Baseball Game Preview: May River Sharks vs. Bluffton Bobcats

For the second straight game, May River will face off against Bluffton. The Sharks will welcome the Bobcats at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Both teams are headed into the matchup with plenty of momentum (May River has won three straight at home, while Bluffton won three straight on the road), something that'll have to change.

May River is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They were the clear victors by a 15-2 margin over Bluffton on Tuesday. With that victory, the Sharks brought their scoring average up to 6.3 runs per game.

Trevor Konte tossed a big game, striking out eight batters over five innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits (and only one walk). Those eight strikeouts gave him a new career-high.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Trace Mischik, who went a perfect 6-for-6 with four RBI, one triple, and one stolen base. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Fergus Varley, who scored three runs while going 2-for-5.

May River was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .421. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

May River's win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 6-4. As for Bluffton, their loss was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 7-5.

Both the two teams just can't seem to miss. May River has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 8.7 hits per game. However, it's not like Bluffton struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 5.2 hits.
