The Del Campo Cougars will head out on the road to face off against the El Camino Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with five consecutive losses apiece.
After soaring to 36 points the game before, Del Campo were a bit more limited in their matchup on Friday. They took a 14-7 hit to the loss column at the hands of Rio Americano. That's two games in a row now that Del Campo has lost by exactly seven points.
Meanwhile, El Camino fell victim to Christian Brothers' stalwart defense on Friday and couldn't make it onto the board. They took a serious blow against the Falcons, falling 49-0. While losing is never fun, El Camino can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked 864th, while Christian Brothers is ranked 290th).
Del Campo's loss was their fifth straight on the road, which dropped their overall record down to 3-6. As for El Camino, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-8.
Everything came up roses for Del Campo against El Camino when the teams last played back in October of 2022 as the team secured a 42-6 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Del Campo since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
