Football Recap: Lawton Piles Up the Points Against Western Heights

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Lawton). They blew past the Western Heights Jets 49-0 on Friday. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Wolverines' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Oklahoma football rankings (they are ranked 116th, while the Jets are ranked 243rd).

The win made it two in a row for Lawton and bumps their season record up to 4-2. The victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 18 points in those games. As for Western Heights, they are on a 15-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-6.

Looking ahead, Lawton will face off against El Reno at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Wolverines will be up against the Indians' rather soft defense (which has allowed 37.5 points per matchup), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Western Heights, they will host Guthrie at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Jets will need to watch out since the Bluejays have now posted at least 31 points in their last five games.
