Central is 2-8 against Auburn since February of 2022 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Central Red Devils will head out to challenge the Auburn Tigers at 6:00 p.m. Central has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last four games.
Central saw some tournament action on Wednesday. They enjoyed a cozy 71-56 victory over Smiths Station. Given the Red Devils' advantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 34th, while the Panthers are ranked 106th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

It was another big night for Jabria Lindsey, who dropped a triple-double on 37 points, ten rebounds, and ten assists. Her evening made it 32 games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Gerritt Griggs, who went 5 of 7 en route to 14 points and eight boards.
Central smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in six consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, it can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Auburn had no problem doing just that on Wednesday. They breezed by the Bulldogs to the tune of 64-35. The Tigers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 16 matchups by 24 points or more this season.
Central better keep an eye on BRAYLEE WINFREY. She was instrumental in Auburn's win, going 10 for 13 on her way to 25 points and seven steals. WINFREY is on a roll when it comes to points, as she's now scored 16 or more in the last three games she's played. BROOKE HALLMAN was another key player, putting up ten points and six steals.
The win was the eighth in a row for Auburn, bringing their record for this year to 24-5. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.9 points per game. As for Central, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a nice bump to their 20-5 record this season.
Central came up short against Auburn when the teams last played back in January, falling 47-38. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of WINFREY, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 16 rebounds. Now that Central knows the damage she can cause, will they be able to stop her this time? There's only one way to find out.
