Even though South Pittsburg scored an imposing 55 points on Friday, Van Buren County still came out on top. Van Buren County took their contest against South Pittsburg 65-55.
Meanwhile, Whitwell lost to Rockwood at home by a decisive 65-46 margin on Saturday. Whitwell has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Van Buren County's victory bumped their record up to 11-7. As for Whitwell, they have not been sharp recently as the team has lost ten of their last 11 contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-20 record this season.
Everything came up roses for Van Buren County against Whitwell when the teams last played back in January as the squad secured a 81-45 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Van Buren County since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
