The Ayaprun Jaegers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their 11th straight loss dating back to last season. They were beaten by Chaputnguak 67-38. Ayaprun has not had much luck with Chaputnguak recently, as the team's come up short the last six times they've met.
Leading Chaputnguak to victory were Ashton Matthew and Felagai Laumea. Matthew scored 23 points, while Laumea scored 23 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Robert Jimmy II, who scored ten points.
Ayaprun dropped their record down to 0-1 with that loss, which was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Chaputnguak, their victory bumped their record up to 1-2.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Ayaprun will take on Chief Paul Memorial at 8:30 p.m. on Friday. Chief Paul Memorial knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past five matches -- so hopefully Ayaprun likes a good challenge. As for Chaputnguak, they will stay at home for another game and welcome Nuniwarmiut at 6:00 a.m. on January 26th.
