On Saturday, the Northridge Raiders faced the Fort Wayne Snider Panthers in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Northridge took a 50-44 hit to the loss column at the hands of Fort Wayne Snider. Northridge has not had much luck with Fort Wayne Snider recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.
Northridge's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Rielyn Goodwin, who scored 12 points along with four steals. Goodwin hasn't dropped below two steals for 12 straight games. Sabrina Miller was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with five rebounds and two blocks.
Tia Phinezy was her usual excellent self, scoring 15 points along with seven rebounds for Fort Wayne Snider. The team also got some help courtesy of Zyann Phinezy, who scored ten points along with two steals.
Northridge's loss dropped their record down to 20-3. As for Fort Wayne Snider, their victory was their 17th straight at home, which pushed their record up to 18-2.
Northridge will take on Plymouth at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Fort Wayne Snider, they will head out on the road to square off against DeKalb at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. DeKalb will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Indiana Rankings (they are ranked 92nd, while Fort Wayne Snider is ranked sixth).
