The Atlantic Sharks will be staying on the road on Thursday to face off against the Satellite Scorpions at 7:00 p.m. on February 1st. Hopefully Atlantic focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 16 on Tuesday.
Last Tuesday, Atlantic earned a 44-35 win over the Titans.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Atlantic to victory, but perhaps none more so than VANESSA SPADA, who scored six points along with 34 rebounds and three steals. It was the first time this season that SPADA pulled down eight or more rebounds. Aurielle Reavis was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 14 points and ten rebounds.
Satellite has not had quite the year their fans were hoping for to this point, but back-to-back wins may be a sign of good things to come. They walked away with a 40-33 victory over Melbourne Central Catholic on Monday.
Satellite relied on the efforts of Leigh Hertel, who scored six points along with eight rebounds and three steals, and Sydney Logsdon, who scored 18 points along with eight rebounds and two steals. Logsdon has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Alyna Lora, who scored seven points along with six rebounds.
The victory got Atlantic back to even at 10-10. As for Satellite, their win bumped their record up to 7-12.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Atlantic have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 31.8 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Satellite struggles in that department as they've been averaging 35.9 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Atlantic skirted past the Scorpions 49-46 in their previous matchup back in December of 2023. The rematch might be a little tougher for Atlantic since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
