The Sam Houston Texans had to endure a nine-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 64-62 win over Lamar on Friday. The win was just what Sam Houston needed coming off of a 77-51 loss in their prior contest.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Sam Houston to victory, but perhaps none more so than Rylan Austin, who scored 19 points along with seven rebounds. The match was Austin's seventh in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Terry Brock, who scored 19 points.
Sam Houston's win ended a five-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 4-16. As for Lamar, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost five of their last six contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-12 record this season.
Sam Houston will be playing in front of their home fans against Martin at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Martin presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Sam Houston in Texas (Martin is ranked 128th, while Sam Houston is ranked 739th). As for Lamar, they will head out on the road to face off against Grand Prairie at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Grand Prairie is coming into the match hot, having won their last four games.
