On Monday, Clarksville Christian took their contest with ease, bagging a 71-15 win over South Haven Christian. The Centurions have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine matches by 40 points or more this season.
Clarksville Christian's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Lauren Hassell, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 14 boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Niah Rhodes, who went 6 of 12 on her way to 12 points along with seven assists and five boards.
Clarksville Christian smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive rebounds in three consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Christian Community didn't have quite enough to beat Merrol Hyde Magnet on Tuesday and fell 51-49.
Clarksville Christian will need focus on slowing down Makenzie Rigsby, one of several Christian Community players who made an impact when they last played. She posted 16 points and five rebounds. Those 16 points gave Rigsby a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of M.J. Dodd, who had five points in addition to six rebounds and three steals.
Clarksville Christian's victory bumped their record up to 10-4. As for Christian Community, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 10-6.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Clarksville Christian has been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 33.7 boards per game. However, it's not like Christian Community struggles in that department as they've been averaging 20.4 boards. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
