Westover found their leader in sophomore Sydney Donaldson, who went 9 for 20 en route to 21 points along with eight steals and seven assists. Donaldson has been hot, having posted two or more steals the last eight times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Wykieria Holmes, who posted 12 points and three steals.
Westover was working as a unit and finished the game with 14 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in February of 2024.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Dougherty, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Saturday. They walked away with a 47-37 win over Bainbridge last Tuesday.
Westover better keep an eye on Teaylia Hawkins. She was instrumental in Dougherty's win, dropping a double-double with 13 points and 15 rebounds. The dominant performance gave Hawkins a new career-high in boards. Grace P. Smith was another key player, putting up six points and 12 rebounds.
Dougherty has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games, which provided a massive bump to their 15-10 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 54.2 points over those games. As for Westover, their record now sits at 12-8.
Westover came up short against Dougherty when the teams last played two weeks ago, falling 59-49. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Dougherty's Jatiana Chambers, who scored 27 points and five assists. Now that Westover knows the damage she can cause, will they be able to stop her this time? Check MaxPreps.com after the match to find out.
