If the Pocomoke Warriors were feeling good off their 64-40 takedown of the Washington Jaguars last Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Pocomoke was beaten by Parkside 77-36 on Monday. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss Pocomoke has suffered since December 8, 2023.
Pocomoke's loss came despite strong showings from Maddie Esham and Donyae Washington. Esham scored 13 points along with two steals, while Washington dropped a double-double on 16 points and 14 rebounds. Washington is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last 11 games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Audrey Pham, who scored two points along with three steals.
It was another big night for Zion Oge, who scored 30 points for Parkside. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Oge has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Talayah Clark, who scored 12 points.
Pocomoke's loss dropped their record down to 7-6. As for Parkside, they pushed their record up to 13-2 with that victory, which was their third straight on the road.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Pocomoke won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Crisfield at 5:00 p.m. on January 23rd. Crisfield is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'. Parkside won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Mardela at 4:30 p.m. on January 23rd. Mardela will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Maryland Rankings (they are ranked 213th, while Parkside is ranked 59th).
