Basketball Recap: Dunnellon Takes a Loss

Dunnellon lost against Mount Dora Christian Academy back in January of 2021 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The Dunnellon Tigers fell 71-58 to the Mount Dora Christian Academy Bulldogs.

Despite the loss, Dunnellon still got an impressive performance from Tre'Quori Rollerson, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and 13 rebounds. The dominant performance gave Rollerson a new career-high in points. Another player making a difference was Eli Nelson, who went 6 for 14 on his way to 14 points in addition to eight boards and eight blocks.

Mount Dora Christian Academy's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Landon Marenco, who went 6 of 14 en route to 21 points and five steals. Ethan Priest was another key player, going 6 for 11 on his way to 19 points and three steals.

Dunnellon has been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-12 record this season. As for Mount Dora Christian Academy, their victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-8.

Dunnellon and Mount Dora Christian Academy could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Florida Rankings. Dunnellon will square off against Santa Fe at 7:30 p.m. on Friday down 247 places (443 vs. 196). Similarly, Mount Dora Christian Academy (ranked 330th) will meet Osceola (ranked 20th) at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
