Goldsboro extended the longest winning streak in 1A Carolina this week by beating North Duplin, 41-18. The win marks fifth in a row for the the Cougars.
Ayden-Grifton led the league in scoring this week after putting up 55 points on Rosewood.
Goldsboro's dynamic duo of Julius Murphy and Joseph Baker proved tough for the Rebels to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Murphy threw for 271 yards and six touchdowns and Baker had 142 yards receiving. Karon Alston helped Goldsboro's passing attack out by catching three balls for 49 yards.
Johnny Frasier was the most productive running back in the league this week. He ran for 129 yards on 15 carries as Princeton bested North Duplin. Teammate Kameron McDougald added to the ground attack by rushing for 49 yards.
The Cougars' Murphy and Baker have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading 1A Carolina in both passing and receiving yards. Murphy has thrown for 1035 yards this season, while Baker, a 6-foot-1 receiver, has 29 catches for 365 yards. Tyler Royal from Hugh Martin's team leads the league in rushing with 980 yards.
The Rebels' Royal is a mere 20 yards away from breaking the 1,000-rushing-yards mark for the season.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Goldsboro takes on the Eagles. The Cougars are currently in first, while Rosewood is in fifth.
Goldsboro made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 2,714 from 3,089. The improvement came about via a 41-18 victory over North Duplin last week.
