The Discovery Canyon Thunder will head out on the road to take on the Lutheran Lions at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
Discovery Canyon suffered their biggest defeat since November 30, 2023 on Wednesday. They were dealt a 82-49 defeat at the hands of Air Academy. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat Discovery Canyon has suffered against Air Academy since January 17, 2020.
Discovery Canyon's defeat came about despite a quality game from Meghan Storch, who scored ten points along with five rebounds and two steals. Storch hasn't dropped below two steals for seven straight games. Natalie Neuhaus was another key contributor, scoring 13 points.
Meanwhile, winning is just a little bit easier when you outrebound your opponent 12 to 5 on the offensive boards, a fact Lutheran proved on Wednesday. They managed a 51-45 victory over Palmer Ridge.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Lutheran to victory, but perhaps none more so than Berkley Schneider, who scored nine points along with six rebounds and five assists. Schneider is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Jayda Vigil, who scored 11 points along with two steals.
This is the second loss in a row for Discovery Canyon and nudges their season record down to 6-8. As for Lutheran, the victory got them back to even at 7-7.
Discovery Canyon took a serious blow against Lutheran when the teams last played back in February of 2023, falling 54-26. Can Discovery Canyon avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
