Softball Recap: South Allegheny Continues Home Dominance on Monday

While South Allegheny put up plenty of runs on Monday, the same can't be said for Brentwood. The Gladiators were the clear victors by a 15-0 margin over the Spartans. Considering the Gladiators have won 11 matches by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Carrera Conley was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit over four innings pitched. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two hits in seven consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two runs.

In other batting news, Aubrey Pacewicz was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March. Cameran Colecchi was another key player, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs and two RBI.

South Allegheny was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Brentwood only posted a batting average of .091.

South Allegheny's win was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 14-2. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.1 runs on average over those games. As for Brentwood, their loss dropped their record down to 7-7.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. South Allegheny will venture away from home to face off against McKeesport at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Brentwood, they will take on Apollo Ridge at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Spartans' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Vikings have averaged an impressive 11.2 runs per game this season.
