Glacier is a perfect 10-0 against Hellgate since April of 2021 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Wolfpack will face off against the Knights at 3:00 p.m. Glacier is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.4 runs per game this season.
Glacier will roll into the match after a wild two-game stretch: they didn't score any runs on Saturday, then bounced right back against Capital on Saturday. The Wolfpack's pitchers stepped up to hand the Bruins a 17-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for the Wolfpack, who have now won eight contests by ten runs or more so far this season.
Olivia Gibbons made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 13 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April.
In other batting news, Glacier got a massive performance out of Nakiah Persinger, who went 2-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Taylor Vivian was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three RBI and one run.
Glacier always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .697. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Hellgate was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They lost 11-4 to Butte.
Shannon Kane made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.
Glacier has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-3 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Hellgate, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-12.
Hellgate's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Glacier has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 10.9 hits per game. It's a different story for Hellgate, though, as they've been averaging 10.6 hits. Given Glacier's sizable advantage in that area, the Knights will need to find a way to close that gap.
Glacier took their win against Hellgate when the teams last played back in April by a conclusive 11-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Wolfpack since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
