Guerin Catholic is 0-3 against Lebanon since March of 2023 but things could change on Monday. The Golden Eagles will face off against the Tigers at 12:00 p.m.
It was a Battle of the Birds when Guerin Catholic faced off against Seymour on Saturday. The Golden Eagles fell just short of the Owls by a score of 9-8. The Golden Eagles have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Brooklyn Fritsche made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. She also put up a double, which was her first of the season. Kate Brady was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Lebanon came out on top against Crawfordsville on Thursday thanks in part to the team's impressive eight-run second inning. The Tigers put the hurt on the Athenians with a sharp 13-3 win. The result was nothing new for the Tigers, who have now won 13 games by six runs or more so far this season.
Lebanon let MacKenzie Carey and Sophie Robison run wild. Carey went 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI, while Robison got on base in all three of her plate appearances with two runs and one triple. Another player making a difference was Hannah Wilborn, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI.
Lebanon always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .613. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Crawfordsville only posted an OBP of .375.
Lebanon is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 20-10 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for Guerin Catholic, their loss dropped their record down to 7-11.
Monday's match will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Guerin Catholic hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .318. However, it's not like Lebanon struggles in that department as they've averaged .390. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Guerin Catholic might still be hurting after the 18-6 defeat they got from Lebanon in their previous matchup back in March. Can the Golden Eagles avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
