Baseball Recap: Delphi Community Picks Up Fifth Consecutive Win

Delphi Community waltzed into their game on Friday with four straight wins... but they left with five. They put the hurt on the South Newton Rebels with a sharp 16-2 victory. Considering the Oracles have won five matchups by more than seven runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Brett Huffman was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. Delphi Community is undefeated when Huffman posts three or more RBI, but 4-6 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Levi Coghill, who went 2-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Delphi Community always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .514. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Delphi Community pushed their record up to 8-6 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.6 runs over those games. As for South Newton, they are on a 17-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-12.

Delphi Community wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 12-6 win against Marquette Catholic on the 3rd. As for South Newton, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Tri-County at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Rebels' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Cavaliers have averaged an impressive 7.3 runs per game this season.
