Cunningham is 2-7 against the Cougars since February of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Cunningham Wildcats will be playing at home against the Central Christian Cougars at 7:30 p.m. Each of these teams will be battling to keep a three-game winning streak alive.
Cunningham proved they can win big on Tuesday (they won by 21) but on Friday they proved they can win the close ones too. They skirted past Norwich 55-52.
Cunningham can attribute much of their success to Will Wegerer, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 11 rebounds, and Luke Albers, who scored 28 points along with five rebounds and three steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which Wegerer has scored at least a third of Cunningham's points. Nate Sterneker was another key contributor, scoring two points along with six rebounds.
Meanwhile, Central Christian was able to grind out a solid win over the Bulldogs on Friday, taking the game 49-41.
Cunningham is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a nice bump to their 11-3 record this season. As for Central Christian, their win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 7-8.
Cunningham beat the Cougars 61-53 in their previous matchup back in February of 2023. Does Cunningham have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Cougars turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
