After a string of three wins, Sports Leadership & Management's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They took a hard 75-59 fall against True North Classical Academy. While losing is never fun, Sports Leadership & Management can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 202nd, while True North Classical Academy is ranked 51st).
Sports Leadership & Management lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Ian Mckelligan, who scored 16 points along with six rebounds and two steals. That's the first time this season that Mckelligan grabbed two or more steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Jason Morris, who scored ten points along with four steals.
Even though they lost, Sports Leadership & Management were working as a unit and finished the game with 17 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.
Jasen Lopez was his usual excellent self, scoring 29 points along with five steals for True North Classical Academy. Boosie Swan was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with seven rebounds and two steals.
Sports Leadership & Management's loss dropped their record down to 7-5. As for True North Classical Academy, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight matches, which provided a nice bump to their 11-4 record this season.
Sports Leadership & Management will head out on the road to face off against Killian at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Killian is coming into the contest on a three-game losing streak. As for True North Classical Academy, True North Classical Academy and American will face off at 7:30 p.m. on January 8th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Hopefully American focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 19 on Friday.
