Haines City has been on the road for two straight, but on Friday they'll finally head home. They will take on the Davenport Broncos at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Haines City focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 26 on Monday.
Even though Haines City has not done well against Lake Wales recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way. Haines City came out on top in a nail-biter against Lake Wales and snuck past 61-58. The win was just what Haines City needed coming off of a 74-54 loss in their prior match.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Haines City to victory, but perhaps none more so than Ixion Toro, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 15 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Toro has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Jorge Ramirez, who scored 21 points along with two steals.
Meanwhile, Davenport came up short against Auburndale on Thursday and fell 55-46. Davenport has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Haines City's victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 5-15. As for Davenport, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost seven of their last nine matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-10 record this season.
