Tyson Robles made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Piper is 3-1 when he allows at most three earned runs, but 3-7 otherwise. Robles was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Mason Langley, who went 1-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Another player making a difference was Beckett Noll, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs.
Meanwhile, Schoolhouse Prep sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 7-6 win over Dade Christian on Monday.
Like Piper, Schoolhouse Prep also got a great game from a two-way player: Kaeno Hinkel. On the mound, he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Hinkel was also stellar in the batter's box, going 4-for-5 with four stolen bases and three runs. Those four stolen bases gave him a new career-high.
Hinkel wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Aaron Aguilar, who went 1-for-3 with one RBI. Fransisco Mejias also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.
Schoolhouse Prep was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .375. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
Schoolhouse Prep's victory bumped their record up to 9-7. As for Piper, their win bumped their record up to 6-8.
