Socastee (Myrtle Beach, S.C.) came into Saturday's contest ranked No. 11 in South Carolina, but was stunned by
Hartsville (S.C.), 40-13. Hartsville was ranked at No. 12 in the MaxPreps Freeman Rankings for South Carolina coming into the week.
After taking the lead on a rushing touchdown in the first quarter, the Red Foxes led 27-6 at the half.
Hartsville expanded its lead to 34 points entering the fourth quarter. HHS scored two times in the third, including once on a rushing touchdown.
The loss snapped the Braves' 12-game winning streak.
Socastee's
Tommy Lazaroff played well. He ran for one touchdown.
The Red Foxes came into the game allowing 16.8 points per game. SHS came in surrendering 16.4 points per game this season.
The defeat comes as a step back for Socastee, which notched a 41-14 victory over Berkeley in its previous outing.
