Bagdad has gone a perfect 10-0 against Salome recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Sultans will head out to face off against the Frogs at 4:00 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
On Thursday, Bagdad got the win against Desert Heights Prep by a conclusive 20-5. Considering the Sultans have won seven contests by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Kiah Morris was a major factor no matter where she played. She pitched four innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off one hit. Morris was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances. That stolen base was her first of the season.
In other batting news, Bagdad got a massive performance out of Jadyn Rodriguez, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, four RBI, and one triple. That's the most runs Rodriguez has posted since back in April of 2024. Anna Williams was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.
Bagdad kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in four consecutive games.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Salome). They were the clear victors by a 22-6 margin over Maryvale Prep on Friday. The team's explosion at the plate also rewarded the Frogs with their most commanding win of the season.
Bagdad has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-3 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.0 runs over those games. As for Salome, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-4.
Everything went Bagdad's way against Salome when the teams last played back in March, as Bagdad made off with a 22-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Sultans since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
